how CrowdRank works

Instead of asking voters to rank a huge list at once, CrowdRank serves two contenders at a time. Each vote says which side won that matchup.

The leaderboard updates from many small comparisons, which makes the result easier to join and harder to dominate with one giant ballot.

Each contender starts with an Elo rating of 1500. After every matchup, the winner gains rating and the loser drops rating.

CrowdRank uses a base K-factor of 32 multiplied by vote weight, so surprising wins and higher-trust votes move the board more than expected results or low-trust votes.

Vote weight is based on account trust and risk signals. Guests and unverified accounts can still vote, but verified and trusted accounts carry more weight.

CrowdRank rate-limits voting by IP address, guest session, account, and debate. It also scores risk from repeated pairs and unusually fast voting.

High-risk votes can be reduced to 0.1x or invalidated. Rankings are crowd-derived, not editorial. CrowdRank does not endorse any item.
